Telangana High Court refuses to postpone first set of preliminary exams

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday refused to postpone the Group-1 preparatory exam. The divisional judge declined to intervene in the preparatory examination, scheduled for Sunday, June 11, and dismissed an appeal to postpone the examination.

The bench judges, comprising Justices Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao, refused to interfere with the order of the single bench, who was not inclined to order a stay. The court is dealing with a writ appeal filed by Group-1 aspiring Murlidhar Reddy.

However, the court informed the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) that the result of the Group 1 examination shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition pending in the court.

The court took into account that there are over 300,000 applicants sitting for the exam and that it would be a serious setback for applicants if the exam stalled.

Special GP Harender Pershad, attached to the Attorney-General’s Office, appeared on behalf of the state and presented his arguments on behalf of the TSPSC. Defense lawyer Sudheer, who represented the petitioner, argued that the investigation by the Special Investigations Team (SIT) into the TSPSC paper leak case had not yet been completed, arguing for the court to interfere with the previous order.

The petitioner argues that the TSPSC’s credibility is now in question due to the arrest of a TSPSC employee for alleged involvement in the thesis leak, while the same TSPSC is rushing through the new Group-1 preliminary exam. Therefore, Sudheer said, the exam should be retained and conducted by any other institution like UPSC.

The division judge, while dismissing the writ appeal, said delaying the exam was not the solution. It recalls the case of DSC differences in 2008, the case went to the Supreme Court and then sent back to the High Court, wasting precious 15 years of the aspirants. Write an exam.

The High Court heard a petition filed by candidates N Suresh, D Ramesh Kumar, Shamim and Y Sai Sushmita. In its order, it said that the previous preliminaries had been canceled and were being rerun, so an order was being issued to allow them to take the exam.

Meanwhile, a judge heard a petition to transfer the TSPSC exam paper leak case to the CBI. SIT was ordered to submit an investigative report.

Attorney-General BS Prasad, representing TSPSC, said charges had been filed against the accused. He said SIT was conducting a thorough investigation and there was no need for a CBI investigation.

After reasoning, the High Court directed SIT to file its investigation report within three weeks.
