Telangana: IndianOil to set up 264 charging stations, 25 battery swapping facilities

Hyderabad: IndianOil has issued a Letter of Intent for the establishment of seven compressed biogas (CBG) production plants in Telangana. Three of them will be in Hyderabad, one each in Jangaon, Mahabubnagar, Medchal and Warangal, said B Anil Kumar, executive director and governor of Indian Oil Corporation, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

CBG purchased from these plants through a long-term agreement will be sold under the “IndiGreen” brand through IndianOil’s retail outlets, he said. The company has achieved 10% ethanol blending with gasoline in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

It has opened 337 retail outlets in Telangana in the past 3 years. It has set up 94 battery charging stations and plans to open 264 more this year. It also plans to activate 25 battery swapping facilities at its retail outlets across Telangana, Kumar said.

The company sells CNG at 46 retail outlets in Telangana and plans to add another 21 CNG refueling facilities this year. IndianOil is working to meet the government’s mandate to use 20% ethanol in gasoline blends. An additional storage tank of 6,000 kiloliters is about to be constructed at the Malkapur terminal in Hyderabad to increase capacity to comply with 20 percent ethanol blend and 40-day coverage, he said.

Telangana’s IndianOil has a 34.6% gasoline market share, 38% diesel market share and about 40% of the domestic LPG business. It has a storage capacity of 11.86 kiloliters (tkl) of petrol and 42.56 tkl of high-speed diesel in Telangana.
