Pedapari: Work on the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (TSTPP) Unit-I (800 MW) at Ramagundam is nearing completion and arrangements are underway to light up and synchronize the unit.
The Center approved a 4,000 MW power project in Telangana as part of the Andhra Pradesh Restructuring Act, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the groundwork for in 2016. The project, costing Rs 10,598.98 crore, is being developed using ultra-supercritical technology.
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is constructing the Telangana project at its site in Jyothinagar, Ramagundam mandal.
In the first phase, the works of the first phase (800 MW X 2) were carried out. Work on Unit 1 (800 MW) has been completed. Officials, who were working to ignite the boiler, were also arranging synchronization. Work on the second unit is likely to be completed by April this year.
Although Unit 1 was originally due to be completed in 2020-21, it was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.
