Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that with its innovative agricultural policies, the Telangana government has paved the way for an unprecedented development in the welfare of farmers in the country in just eight years. Apart from bringing about a qualitative change in the lives of farmers, Telangana is now helping to bring about a paradigm shift in the agricultural sector at the national level, he said.
Chandrashekhar Rao extended his greetings to farmers across the country as he celebrated the National Farmers’ Day (Kisan Diwas) on Friday, stressing the need for a ‘Kisan Sarkar’ in the country based on the Telangana model which is gaining promise with the aim of farmer welfare. He said the Telangana government has proved through its initiatives that the budget allocated to develop various industries such as power, agriculture and irrigation sectors are nothing but social investments. He said the Telangana model was ideal for the entire country.
The Chief Minister said the Telangana government has been working to improve the living conditions of farmers who are totally dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. He said a lot of brainstorming and hard work went into the success story of Telangana’s agricultural sector, turning the state into a national rice bowl and seed bowl.
Chandrashekhar Rao said that despite the financial hurdles caused by the federal government’s neglect of its constitutional responsibilities, Telangana has been making progress unabated and putting farmers’ welfare first. He reiterated that despite the many challenges, the Rythu Bandhu program will continue.
The Chief Minister said progress made in the agriculture sector will be a boost for all other sectors. He said that through the development of the agricultural sector, the related sector and ultimately the rural economy will be strengthened. “This will lead to ‘economic rotation’ and ensure the comprehensive and sustainable development of the country,” he added.
In addition, he explained that through the advancement of primary industries such as agriculture and related sectors, the purchasing power of the people will increase, thereby driving the development of secondary and tertiary industries. “Therefore, growth rates in all sectors can be achieved, which will help increase per capita income and state GDP,” he said.
