Defending world champions beat Anamika 4-1 in summit clash

Hyderabad: Reigning world champion Nehat Zarin continued her furious form to end the year on a high with a gold medal at the sixth Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships in Bhopal on Monday.
The 26-year-old boxer from Nizamabad faced a tough challenge from Anamika of the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the 50kg gold medal match before the 26-year-old from Nizamabad won 4-1 Defeated her and successfully defended the title.
Telangana Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud hailed Nikhat Zareen for winning the national title and hoped to bring more honors to the state.

Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain comfortably beat Service Sports Control Board (SSCB) Arundhati Choudhary 5-0 in the 75kg final to claim the title.
The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) lifted the team trophy with 10 medals.
Meanwhile, 2019 World Championships silver medalist Manju Rani handed the RSPB its first gold medal after beating Tamil Nadu’s S Kalaivani 5-0 in the 48kg final. Shiksha (54kg), Poonam (60kg), Shashi Chopra (63kg) and Nupur (81kg) were the other RSPB gold medalists, who also picked up three silver and two bronze medals.
Madhya Pradesh has one gold, two silvers and five bronzes, while Haryana has two golds and two bronzes in second and third respectively.
Manipur’s young boxer Sanamacha Thokchom Chanu, who won gold at the 2021 Youth World Championships, also scored an impressive performance against Madhya Pradesh’s Shruti Yadav 3-2 in the thrilling final. 70 kg class champion.
Haryana’s Manisha (57kg) and Saweety (81kg), SSCB’s Sakshi (52kg), Madhya Pradesh’s Manju Bamboria (66kg) also won their respective titles in the prestigious competition. A total of 302 boxers participated in 12 events for the gold medal in the category.
