The Passage du Gois is a 4.3-kilometre natural passage. This section of the road is very special, but also very dangerous.
You must be wondering how did this happen? The road disappeared due to high tide, 2.68 miles of road disappeared 13 feet under the water, people never knew there was a road there.
The road definitely looks beautiful, but it’s very dangerous. At both ends of the road, there are signs indicating whether the road is open or not. Many travelers are often stranded on the road due to high tides.
There are elevated towers along this passage to save yourself if you get caught between the tides.
Every year, the Passage du Gois hosts events like Les Foulees du Gois, a foot race against rising water since 1978. Thousands of runners and nature lovers take part in this event to make unforgettable memories, interestingly enough professional runners have to be the last to start.
