Karim Nagar: When it comes to innovation and passion, young Kasam Akhil Reddy is setting an example for his peers. The engineering graduate has built an electric motorcycle himself and is now continuing his research to see how it can be brought to market as a product by at least 2026.
Akhil Reddy, a native of Munjampalli, Manakondur mandal, has had a dream since childhood to start his own auto industry and often shares his ideas with his friends and family. A dream come true, he worked hard for it and even took a B.Tech course in Automotive Engineering to gain disciplinary and practical knowledge in the field.
Akhil Reddy completed his SSC at Siddhartha High School, Karimnagar in 2016 and his Diploma in Automotive at TDR Institute of Technology, Hyderabad in 2019. He then completed Automotive Engineering at Lovely Professional University in Punjab in 2022.
In August 2021, he spent Rs 1.3 lakh to build an e-bike in three days. Since then, he has focused on further development, improvising this bike from an old bike. For this, he installed a 100 Ah/48 Volt battery, a 1.5 KV current motor, controller, converter and speedometer.
explain his vehicle to him Telangana today, Akhil Reddy said that once the battery is fully charged, it can travel 180 kilometers at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour. If the new frame is used for the bike, the vehicle can travel between 100 and 120 km/h, he said, adding that only five units of power are needed to charge the battery.
A miniature circuit breaker was also fixed to avoid problems with the motor if the battery was supplying too much power. Interestingly, this bike also has a reverse gear. He tested its durability in hot conditions by keeping it below 50 degrees for three consecutive days and found no major issues. It was also tested in cold weather and in the rain, he said, adding that he would add a cooling system to avoid any heating issues.
A Formula-E racer, Akhil Reddy also builds an electric racing car and was the leader of a 15-member team at the Elite Group event organized by the LD Engineering College in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in March 2019. car race.
