Hyderabad: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) is considering conducting the upcoming recruitment examinations in computer-based testing (CBT) format where feasible.
The board is seeking to make foolproof arrangements for the upcoming exams after the exam papers were leaked, and as such, talks were held with an IT professional to realize the CBT proposal, the source said.
So far, due to the logistical support of the companies, the board has been conducting CBT on the recruitment call for around 25,000 applications received and the rest of the exams are conducted in offline mode (ie OMR based).
According to sources, the committee has asked the IT company to increase its exam capacity from 25,000 to 50,000 to accommodate more candidates in one exam. Additionally, officials are looking at CBTs conducted by the Staff Selection Board and IBPS for a large number of candidates.
For CBT, TSPSC will prepare an exhaustive question bank for each exam, and the questions in any session will never be the same. Since the test papers for each section are different, candidates may compare the changes in the difficulty level of each section.
To ensure that no candidate gains an advantage or disadvantage due to the difficulty of the exam paper, the board is working on plans to adopt a standardized process in line with the Telangana Common Entrance Examination for Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine (TS EAMCET), which is conducted in the CBT format in multiple sessions.
JNTU-Hyderabad conducting EAMCET followed a normalized process to include all candidates from all sessions in the comparison scale. As a result of this process, globally, marks for easy sessions may decrease slightly and marks for hard sessions may increase slightly. It depends on the candidate’s average performance per session.
