Hyderabad: The Telangana National Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) on Thursday seized the RTC Kala Bhavan in Baghlingampally due to a large amount of outstanding outstanding arrears from Suchirindia Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd Company.
In 2016, TSRTC leased Kala Bhavan to Suchirindia Hotels and Resorts Pvt on a leasehold basis. Due to increasing unpaid rental fees, RTC decided to forfeit Kala Bhavan and terminate the rental contract.
According to RTC officials, under the agreement, Kalyana Mandapam and three other small function halls of the premises were leased, and the two parties signed the agreement.
According to the authorities, Suchirindia Hotels and Resorts Private Limited had to pay TSRTC Rs 2.516 lakh per month. However, for a long period of time, the company failed to pay rent and thus accumulated arrears worth Rs 655 crore. Senior RTC officials said the company has not taken any firm steps to settle outstanding dues.
Previously, TSRTC officials had also repeatedly issued notices to Suchirindia reminding it to pay outstanding dues. However, an adequate response from them has not been received in this regard.
“As per the agreement, if the monthly rent is not paid, TSRTC officials can take over RTC Kala Bhavan by issuing notices as reminders and warnings,” a senior RTC official said.
As the Suchirindia company failed to respond to multiple notifications, Kala Bhavan was detained by TSRTC officials in addition to canceling the contract.
“The company failed to pay any rent to RTC as stipulated in the contract. We are seizing RTC Kala Bhavan and have posted a notice to this effect at the premises,” the official added.
