TSRTC has decided to appoint bus officials in villages to attract people to it and task them with promoting various citizen friendly initiatives for the convenience of passengers

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has launched an innovative initiative to bring the public transport system closer to the citizens.
It has decided to appoint bus officials in villages to attract people to it and has tasked them with publicizing various citizen-friendly initiatives for the convenience of commuters.
TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar has issued guidelines on the appointment of Village Bus Officers and their responsibilities. He directed officials to appoint bus administrators as soon as possible, a system that will go into effect statewide starting May 1.
RTC officials said village-based bus drivers and conductors will be appointed “village bus officers” by station managers. Volunteering to work is a priority.
“These village bus officials are expected to stay in touch with villagers and village elders and hold bi-weekly meetings to hear feedback and suggestions to improve bus services in the village. Their contact details will be kept at Gram Panchayat,” said TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govardhan . The sarpanch in the village will be informed by letter of the details of their village bus officer.
Sajjanar said village bus officials would gather details of marriages, auspicious events and fairs in the village and explain the RTC services available on such occasions. If the traffic volume is heavy, the number of buses will increase accordingly.
The company also decided to encourage designated personnel with outstanding performance in the form of rewards.
Currently, RTC is providing bus facilities to about 10,000 villages across the state and has decided to appoint more than 2,000 village bus officers in these villages.
