Hyderabad: Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) plans to implement a dynamic pricing system on buses running between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. This could mean those who regularly travel between the two Telugu countries will now have to pull more money out of their pockets.
A dynamic ticketing system means that once a ticket is booked, the price of a bus seat automatically increases.
The regular 132 bus running between Hyderabad and Vijayawada has an advance booking facility. The RTC is preparing to implement the policy on 100 buses in the first phase. It is reported that the new policy will be implemented soon.
In this system, lower berths on sleeper buses charge a higher fare. On seat-only services, the first row of seats behind the driver, except for the last two rows of the bus, can be expensive.
Currently, the super deluxe bus costs Rs 570, the Lahari sleeper bus costs Rs 750, the Garuda Plus bus costs Rs 830, the Garuda electric bus costs Rs 740 and the sleeper bus between Hyderabad and Vijayawada costs Rs 1,050.
If the policy goes into effect, expect RTC buses to charge an additional 25 percent on top of current fares. Based on available information, fares for RTC buses will be estimated based on the fares of private operators at the time.
As a pilot project, RTC dynamic ticketing on buses in several cities from Hyderabad to Bengaluru was implemented from March 27 and officials have seen a 15% increase in revenue now. Hence, TSRTC is now ready to be implemented on the Vijayawada route as well.
