Hyderabad: Apart from increasing its fleet in the state, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is also planning to deploy more vehicles in neighboring states.
The company recently held discussions with RTC officials in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and it is understood that it has decided to increase the number of bus services to these states.
TSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director VC Sajjanar recently held talks with Karnataka RTC officials in Bengaluru and is preparing proposals in this regard and is expected to move forward soon.
As part of this, an exclusive scheme is being prepared to run a further 30,000 km of buses in Karnataka on a regular basis. It was concluded that an additional 100 buses would be required for this purpose. This is expected to increase the daily revenue to Rs 2.5 lakh.
Due to high demand for RTC buses especially from Bangalore, Mysore, Belgaum, Bijapur, Yadgir, Bidar, Raichur in Karnataka etc., RTC is doing everything Strive to maximize demand.
Currently, TSRTC is delivering about 500 buses to different parts of Karnataka. They also have high occupancy rates, officials said. The RTC in Karnataka also operates buses to various places including Hyderabad. They are also very popular. In this regard, they jointly decided to increase the number of buses.
In 2008, the once united state of Andhra Pradesh signed an agreement in this regard. After the separation of the country, no separate agreement was reached with the TSRTC.
It is understood that Taiwan Railways is purchasing 16 new air-conditioned sleeper coaches. Another 108 non-air-conditioned sleeper buses are also being leased. Some of them will be earmarked for additional diversion services in Karnataka.
Given the high demand, the fleet is expected to be rotated to areas such as Bengaluru, Mysore and Raiqiu. RTC is also expected to adopt a similar strategy to attract passengers from Andhra Pradesh.
Currently there are no sleeper cars on Taiwan Railways, so many people have to choose private cars. RTC is losing huge revenue as a result. Now, with that decision, it hopes to turn those passengers toward itself with new sleeper buses.
