Vijayawada: On Monday, the Vijayawada Railway Court dismissed the Tuni train burning case.

The court delivered its verdict here, expressing its displeasure at three railway officials for failing to conduct their investigation properly and directing them to take action, while questioning why they had dragged on the delicate issue for five years.

The Railway Police has named 41 persons in the accused list, including A1 Mudragada Padmanabham, A2 Akula Ramakrishna and A3 Minister Dadisetti Raja. Of the 24 witnesses, 20 appeared, five of whom argued that they had no knowledge of the incident.

The state government has withdrawn its case in the Tuney train burning case.

The incident took place in January 2016 when, under the leadership of Mudragada Padmanabham, Kapu agitated for reserved seats, demonstrators allegedly set fire to the train. The Telugu Desan government subsequently registered 69 cases, however, these cases were withdrawn by the YSR Congress government.
