Twitter bans record 682,420 accounts in India for promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity

New Delhi: Under Elon Musk’s leadership, Twitter has banned a record 682,420 tweets promoting child sexual exploitation and sexual exploitation in India between Jan. Accounts with involuntary nudity.
Under Musk’s leadership, the microblogging platform has seen a churn and also removed 1,548 accounts promoting terrorism on the country’s platform.
In its monthly report on compliance with the new IT rules for 2021, Twitter said that through its grievance remediation mechanism, it had only received 73 complaints from users in India during the same time period.
In addition, Twitter also processed 27 complaints, which were appeals against account suspensions.
“After reviewing the specific circumstances, we overturned 10 of these account suspensions. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended,” the company said.
“During the reporting period, we also received 24 requests related to general issues with Twitter accounts,” it added.
Large digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users must publish monthly compliance reports under the new 2021 IT rules.
The report comes as Twitter will remove all old verified blue checkmarks from April 1, and users will have to pay Rs 900 per month or Rs 9,400 per year to carry the blue verified badge, and some Additional benefits like being able to edit tweets and post longer text/videos.
