Hyderabad: On Monday, Rachakonda police arrested two people involved in smuggling the narcotic pseudoephedrine. The police seized 8.5 kilograms of pseudoephedrine and 1 million yuan in cash. 420,000, passports, laptops and other items.
Based on tips, the team arrested Mohammad Kassim (31) and Rasuldin (39) from Tamil Nadu, while their three accomplices, including Fari from Maharashtra De and Faisal, along with Rahim from Tamil Nadu, are on the run.
Rachakonda police chief Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat said the gang operated in Tamil Nadu and used Pune and Hyderabad as air cargo routes to smuggle drugs into Australia and New Zealand.
“The gang members booked packages at international courier services located in Pune and Hyderabad. They concealed drugs in cloth boxes, bracelet boxes, gift bags for children, etc., and provided fake address proofs of locals in the two cities. Upon receipt Following information that the gang was staying in Nacharam and planning to send packages to Australia and New Zealand, a raid was carried out and two gang members were arrested,” Mahesh Bhagwat said.
So far, the gang has sent 15 shipments abroad, including about 70kg of pseudoephedrine. The case was detected by the Rachakonda Special Operations (Malkajgiri) team.
