Hyderabad: The task force, working with local police, dismantled an interstate drug network and arrested two people, including a Nigerian, on Friday for illegal possession and sale of narcotics at Nampally railway station.
Officials seized 60 grams of Mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant drug, and two mobile phones from them.The person arrested is Sohail Ahmed Mohammad Hassan
Shaikh (40), a shoe store owner from Thane, Maharashtra, and Chukwuemeka (28), from Mumbai, run a local food stall business.
Hassan Shaikh and Chukwuemeka decided to deal drugs because their business appeared to be earning little, according to police. As per their plan, they source Mephedrone and other psychotropic substances from local dealers in Khargar, Taluja and Vashi and sell them to customers and earn money.
Aiming to expand their drug business in Hyderabad as well, the duo recently came to the city and slowly started building a client base here.
After receiving the tip, the police first arrested Hassan Shaik in Nampally and seized 40 grams of Mephedrone from him. According to his statement, Chukwuemeka was arrested in Lakdi-ka-Pul and 20 grams of Mephedrone were seized from him.
Police officials said efforts were underway to identify the customers and that necessary action would be taken against them.
