Aligarh: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UP ATS) on Monday arrested 17 people living illegally in Kotwali, Uttar Pradesh, officials said.
“In a joint operation by ATS and Aligarh police, seven male and 10 female Myanmar residents who were illegally residing in the Makdoom Nagar area of the Kotwali Nagar Police Station were arrested,” said Circle officer Abhay Kumar Pandey. Meanwhile, Circle official Pandey said legal action was being taken against them under the relevant provisions of the Aliens Act.
“The police sent the arrested person to Markan Singh District Hospital for medical examination,” Abai Kumar Pandey said.
During the interrogation, the arrested persons stated that we came to Aligarh many years ago, worked in a meat processing plant, and engaged in other jobs.
Further investigation is ongoing.
