Etawa: The family of a woman who was found dead in suspicious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah on Wednesday carried her body and blocked a road in the Poothan Sakrauli Civil Line area.
Relatives said the woman had been facing constant harassment by some police personnel that led to her death.
Families stopped their way after senior police officers assured them that allegations against officers would be investigated.
“On June 6, some police officers had an altercation with the woman. The cause of the woman’s death is unknown. A post mortem will be performed on the body. We are investigating all the facts of the incident. Legal action will follow after the investigation. The family is grateful for our assurances Satisfied,” said Inspector-General of Police (City) Kapil dev Singh.
The family claimed police were extorting bribes by accusing them of illegal mining. They also claimed that police officers searched their house and beat them. According to the family of the deceased Sapna, she was very depressed after the incident.
