New York: A man of Indian descent has been convicted of killing three teenage boys who played a prank on his California home by ringing the doorbell, according to media reports.
On Friday, Riverside County resident Anurag Chandra was found guilty of three counts of attempted murder and three counts of first-degree murder, The New York Post reported.
The report added that the incident occurred on January 19, 2020, when a group of teenage boys dared to ring Chandra’s bell.
One of the teens flashed his buttocks before fleeing, Chandra said.
It said the crash killed all three 16-year-olds.
Chandra, who drank 12 beers on the day of the crash, said he was “very, very angry” at the prank and claimed he feared for his family’s safety.
He followed the boys and knocked their Toyota Prius off the road and into a tree in the Temescal Valley.
The suspect testified that he did not intend to hit the boy’s car, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reported.
Chandra also said he didn’t stop after rear-ending their vehicle because he didn’t think anyone was hurt.
The 18-year-old driver and two 13-year-old passengers survived.
Chandra is already facing charges related to domestic violence incidents leading up to the fatal 2020 car crash.
