Visakhapatnam: A female giraffe named May, about 10 years old, died at the Indira Gandhi Zoo on Wednesday.
May was brought to City Zoo in 2013 from Negera Zoo in Malaysia when she was just four months old.
According to the autopsy report, the animal had been receiving medical treatment for the past three months and the cause of death was chronic metritis and pneumonia.
Under normal circumstances, the average lifespan of a giraffe is about 20-25 years, zoo authorities said.
