Visakhapatnam: Police officials in Visakhapatnam city arrested seven people and seized 124 kg of smuggled drugs, the police said. Police arrested the men on Saturday.
“Urban Task Force police raided a parking space on the Visakhapatnam Ropeway, arresting seven people and seizing 124kg of ‘marijuana’,” the police said, adding that a mobile phone and 10,000 rupees.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing. Awaiting further information.
Visakhapatnam police have arrested more than 70 people in connection with smuggling cannabis in the past six months.
Earlier this week, Sileru police in Andhra Pradesh’s ASR district arrested four people, including two technicians and an engineering graduate, for transporting cannabis.
Police said they seized two packs of four kilograms of marijuana, three mobile phones, Rs 750 in cash and a four-wheeler with Telangana number plates.
According to the police, the accused was transporting cannabis from Sileru to Hyderabad via Bhadrachalam by car.
