Visakhapatnam: To date, 22 companies have submitted bids in response to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited’s (RINL) Notice of Expression of Interest (EoI). It is understood that there are six international steel exporting companies among the bidders.
Interestingly, former IPS official VV Laxminararyana submitted the bid on behalf of a private company. On Saturday, the former bureaucrat handed over his tender documents to the mill’s CGM (marketing) Satyanand.
Meanwhile, RINL extended the deadline for submitting bids by five days to April 20. Notably, RINL invited bids on March 27 to provide working capital, raw materials and procured products for the Visakhapatnam steel plant.
Telangana government-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited has announced its intention to submit a letter of intent to acquire the plant. A group of Singareni officials also visited the factory on April 11. The company has yet to submit a bid.
