Hyderabad: Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender’s photo was shared on looms, disrespecting weaver community social media, in what appears to be a counterattack with TRS (BRS) for a postcard campaign and online petition against GST on handlooms widely. However, it has now been discovered that the photo has been distorted.
While the deformed photo has sparked outrage in the weaver community, Batthula Narayana, a weaver who was visited by the MLA in the Munugode constituency earlier this week, condemned the fake campaign. He was saddened that MLA was unnecessarily blamed for his fault. In a video message, Narayana claimed that Narend was visiting his family to seek support for the postcard campaign and that there was no disrespect to him or the loom he sat next to. The family said the MLA’s leg hit the loom due to space constraints, but never placed the leg on the loom.
Opposition leaders, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party and the BSP, have been circulating the distorted photo on social media in strong opposition to the MLA’s stance. On Twitter, BSP Telangana president RS Praveen Kumar vowed to cancel the MLA and punish him in the streets for disrespecting the profession of the weaver community. He urged people not to tolerate such incidents.
However, Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation chairman Y Sathish Reddy mocked Praveen Kumar for his remarks and said he was a BJP affiliate for spreading false propaganda. He slammed Praveen Kumar for making derogatory remarks against an elected representative based on morphed photograph. He claimed that the former IPS official was only serving the interests of the BJP under the guise of empowering Dalits and will soon be exposed.
