Hyderabad: A female Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer showed quick thinking and sharp reflexes to save the life of a passenger who slipped off the Bhadrachalam-Secunderabad Manuguru Express.
A female passenger slipped and was dragged onto the platform as the train pulled into Warangal railway station on Saturday. Sonali Marotti Molek, a Rwandan Patriotic Front police officer on duty on the platform, saw this scene and rushed to help the passenger without hesitation, pulling her to a safe place on the platform.
Rail officials said Sonali showed great strength and agility, quickly grabbing and pulling the passenger to keep her from falling onto the tracks.
Sonali, from the Nanded district of Maharashtra, was appointed as a member of the Railway Protection Corps in 2020 and is currently serving at the Warangal railway station. Her selfless dedication on Saturday not only won the recognition of the department, but also the gratitude of the female passengers.
Debashmita C Banerjee, Senior Divisional Safety Officer, Secunderabad Division, reminded passengers that getting on and off a train in operation is extremely dangerous and could result in serious injury or even death.
“Passengers should report any unsafe behavior observed at a railway station or on a train to the nearest RPF officer or via the Railway Helpline 139,” she said.
