New Delhi: Sidharth Rao, one of the co-founders of India’s first top digital agency, Webchutney, has died, according to media reports.
He died on Friday night. His parents and wife are survived.
At 19, he started Webchutney, the most awarded Indian advertising agency at Cannes Lions 2019.
In 2008, he incubated Network Play under Webchutney, which became the largest brand advertising network in less than three years before being acquired by Bertelsmann AG. In 2013, Webchutney was acquired by Japanese multinational media network Dentsu Aegis Network.
While he continues to lead Webchutney, he was also appointed in 2021 to head dentsuMB India, the company’s restructured global creative network.
In 2022, Rao stepped down as Group CEO of dentsuMB India and joined forces with serial entrepreneur Madhu Sudan to launch a new venture called Punt Partners in the marketing technology (MarTech) space.
