Hyderabad: YS Avinash Reddy, member of YSR Congress Party Lok Sabha from Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, who was summoned here by CBI on May 22 to appear in court over the murder of ex-minister and his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy, has written to the Central Agency to accuse his mother of on health grounds, seeking time to appear in court before it arises.
Sources close to the MP said on Sunday that Avinash Reddy’s mother is currently being treated at a private hospital in Kurnoor.
“Avinash Reddy wrote a letter to CBI asking for time to appear before them. He wrote that he would come to CBI once his mother recovered,” they said. The CBI’s response is unclear.
Avinash Reddy, cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, has been scanned by the CBI in connection with the March 2019 murder of Vivekananda Reddy.
He was called to appear before the CBI on May 19. However, he did not appear to say his mother was unwell and was being treated in hospital. The investigative agency issued a notice asking him to appear in court on May 22.
Avinash Reddy has appeared before the CBI at least five times this year. He then lodged a prospective bail application with the Telangana High Court.
