Mallorca: Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri won the 2023 Mallorca Open men’s doubles final with South African partner Lloyd Harris to claim his first ATP Tour title.
The India-South Africa duo finished without dropping a set as they beat Dutch-Austrian duo Robin Haas and Philipp Oswald 6-3, 6-4 in Saturday’s ATP 250 final.
The trophy is the duo’s first ATP Tour title in both singles and doubles. Before that, only Harris had reached a tour-level final, twice in singles and once in doubles.
“Definitely fun. I don’t think we had any expectations this week. We just enjoyed the game, game by game, and had a great game. It’s a great city, a great place, I really I love playing here,” the 30-year-old Bambry was quoted as saying by the ATP Tour.
“We had a lot of fun there,” said Harris, 26, who became the first South African to win an ATP Tour title since Raven Klaassen in Seoul last year.
“We’re really enjoying it. I didn’t even know I was going to race this week. For me, it’s just a bonus. I’m really excited about this title,” he added.
