Hyderabad: ZEE5 kicks off the new year with the exciting world digital premiere of “Uunchai”. Staying true to its commitment to provide meaningful content, the platform will bring a heartwarming friendship story with “Uunchai”.
“Uunchai,” produced by Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films and Boundless Media, is directed by Sooraj R Barjatya, marking his return to directing after 2015’s “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.”
‘Uunchai’ follows the journey of three aging friends, Amit (Amitabh Bachchan), Javed (Boman Irani) and Om (Anupam Kher), who decide to embark on a journey to Everest Base Camp to fulfill their late friend Bhupen (Danny Dengzongpa ), whose heart belongs to the Himalayas.
They are joined on the trek by Javed’s wife Shabina (Neena Gupta), who happens to be Bhupen’s long-lost love Mala (Sarika), and their guide Shraddha (Parineeti Chopra). A simple Everest Base Camp trek proved to be a personal, emotional and spiritual experience as one struggled with physical limitations and found freedom.
With an IMDB score of 7.7, “Uunchai” received good reviews at the box office and instantly connected with audiences not only because of the storyline but also because of the actors’ performances.
With a touching script and powerful performances from all actors, the film won the hearts of audiences of all ages. Now, with WDP at ZEE5 on January 6, the film will be available to ZEE5 audiences in over 190 countries.
