Hyderabad: Anuvaad, the translation festival organized by the Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF), kicked off a colorful opening ceremony on Saturday at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus here.
Speaking at the opening of the one-day festival, EFLU Vice-Chancellor and UGC Member Professor E Suresh Kumar said celebrating translation was like celebrating the unique diversity of the world’s languages, literatures and cultures. Translation, he said, helps us understand life, life, literature, philosophy, culture, traditions and customs in different parts of the world.
He appreciated the efforts of Hyderabad Literary Trust in organizing Kaavya Dhaara Poetry Festival and Anuvaad Translation Festival as a precursor to the upcoming 13th HLF which will be held in the last week of January next year.
HLF director Prof T Vijay Kumar said Anuvaad was meant to celebrate translators and translators, adding that the anonymity of translators needed to be interrogated.
HLF Director Amita Desai said there were six sessions involving established and emerging translators from India, three from the UK and one from France.
