Nasapuram: On Monday, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy laid the foundation stone for 15 projects totaling Rs 3,300 crore, including the construction of Andhra Pradesh Floating University and Biaputipa Fishing Port.
Speaking at a public meeting, he said that this is the first time in the history of Nasapuram that so many projects have been launched. “Government has started transforming Narsapuram and fisheries colleges which have been found only in Tamil Nadu and Kerala so far will change the face. We are committed to the development of aquaculture and have invested Rs 3.32 billion to establish fisheries colleges,” he said.
The Rs 4,294.3 crore fishing port is expected to benefit 6,000 fisher families in Mogalturu and Narsapuram mandals. More than 1,750 acres of land in Narsapuram will be allocated to farmers after the UK-era Narsapuram Agriculture Company’s 99-year lease expired last year.
On the same day, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a regulator, Upputeru, a water source in the Kolleru Lake ecosystem, as well as some irrigation and drinking water projects, estimated to cost Rs 1,884 crore.
During his speech, Jagan took a dig at the opposition Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena, which he said had become the “Telugu Boothula (obscenities) Party and Rowdy Sena” respectively. TDP Chairman N. Chandrababu Naidu is worried about his future after his 2019 election defeat, which saw the party lose statewide local body elections including his home Kuppam, he noted, commenting that this should be achieved and people will not Vote for those who have never done anything good.
