Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said there has been a paradigm shift in business tax administration in the state with greater emphasis and focus on system-based tax realization.
Interacting with senior officials of the Assam Business Tax Department at his office on Saturday, the Chief Secretary said the department has developed several applications and modules and has done away with manual drafting-based notifications and procedures and physical Objectives have been replaced by mission-based objectives.
The unit has also been restructured by adding several circles, he said, adding that an economic intelligence unit has been established for research and analysis.
The visiting officials informed the Chief Secretary that traditional systems are still being used in Assam, noting that it was a good learning experience for them to learn about the best practices in the state, which can also be implemented in the state.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner (Business Tax) Neetu Prasad, Additional Commissioner Sai Kishore and other officials. Assam officials are led by Joint Commissioner Basumatary Phuleswar and other senior officials.
