Hyderabad: Indian film legend Rajinikanth will celebrate his 72nd birthday on December 12. In honor of the festive occasion, PVR Pictures is set to re-release a beloved cult film based on the popular superstar’s outstanding filmography.
Daddy, which hit theaters in 2002, marked Rajinikanth’s coveted comeback after a three-year hiatus. Twenty years after its debut, PVR Pictures will also officially re-release Papa in Tamil Nadu cinemas on December 10 as Pondicherry.
The film tells the story of Baba, a young and carefree atheist who undergoes a life-changing experience in which he acquires the magical powers of a gift that help him fight against a group of cunning politicians fight. Typical of any Rajinikanth film, this film is packed with thrilling action and funny songs, and a strong cast that also includes Manisha Koirala, Amrish Puri and Delhi Ganesh.
The most unique part of the reissue will be the film’s advanced digital enhancements. This involves a high-tech color grading process that creates a more magnificent big-screen experience. ‘Baba’s songs will also be presented to a new generation in Remix Avatar; the film has also been re-edited from a fresh perspective.
With the re-release of “Baba”, Rajini fans can now celebrate Thalaiva’s birthday in cinemas.
