Hyderabad: Following the recent announcement by South Central Railway (SCR) to upgrade and develop Secunderabad Railway Station into a modern station, Better Hyderabad Forum has called for the preservation of the main heritage buildings of the railway station during the proposed expansion and upgrade.
In a press release issued on Thursday, Better Hyderabad Forum chairman Veda Kumar Manikonda pointed out that the 150-year-old Secunderabad Railway Station, built by the Nizam of Hyderabad in 1974, is of paramount importance.
While calling for the preservation of the main station building, which is rich in history and heritage in the city, the forum urged the SCR authorities to engage with the Hyderabad Heritage and Precinct Commission (GHHPC) set up by the state government and consider measures to preserve and preserve the heritage buildings.
In a press release, Veda Kumar also asked the Telangana State Heritage Authority (TSHA) chairman and MA&UD Special Principal Secretary to review the matter to preserve architectural heritage.
