Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj dismissed allegations that the announcement of the details of the vote count was deliberately delayed, saying that all details were thoroughly checked and would be shared in the public domain after confirmation by electoral officers, observers and party representatives.
The Munugode vote was counted in 15 rounds. Speaking to media sources here on Sunday, he said each round of counting and official confirmation takes about 25 to 30 minutes.
Regarding the results announced earlier in other states where voting is underway, the CEO said it should be remembered that there are only five or six candidates in those states. He explained, however, that in Munugod, 47 candidates participated in the elections.
Also, no matter how many votes a candidate gets, especially those running independently, all details must be cross-checked and shared with them. He added that this will take time.
The CEO said each round takes about 30 minutes, and the announcement of final results takes about 7.5 hours.
