Hyderabad: A few centuries ago, a touchscreen smartphone, a spaceship that made a video call to someone on the other side of the world or took pictures of the universe would have been unimaginable. But today, that’s the reality.
If OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is to be believed, the company’s ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot that will one day perform tasks for humans and discover new knowledge. Simply put, it becomes human.
The conversational chatbot, which talks to you like a human, went into public beta last Wednesday and surpassed 1 million users in less than a week.
It all started in 2015, when Twitter CEO Elon Musk and venture capitalist Sam Altman co-founded the OpenAI Foundation, which was supposed to be an independent research organization. But Musk, who distanced himself from the company, tweeted: “OpenAI was originally open source and non-profit. Neither is true.
The system is making waves, although the research base appears to be skewed as Musk claims. Classified as a Google-like messaging bot, it’s now seen as a life-changing thing.
It is trained by artificial intelligence and machine learning. Get a lot of data from the internet to train it. Some of the answers it has given in the past week have surprised its users.
As of now, it can answer customer queries, script movies, detect code errors, provide advice, and even create other automated chatbots. However, its inability to think critically or make moral decisions makes us human.
ChatGPT is not perfect yet. But is it being touted as the future of everything tech-related? Most said yes.
In-flight calls are allowed in the EU:
If you’re traveling somewhere in Europe, you may be able to freely receive or make calls in mid-air. Mobile phone calls will now be allowed on board aircraft flying in European airspace once the plane reaches an altitude of 3,000 meters or more, under revised European Commission rules.
Calls are expected to be allowed from next month, and the move will be heavily scanned for the next six months. EU Telecommunications Commissioner Viviane Reding has warned operators to keep in-flight call charges at reasonable levels.
