Over the past three days, Musk has disbanded the Twitter board and made himself the sole director, foreshadowing more layoffs to come.
Hyderabad: Rarely has any social media platform acquired so much confusion and so much news. The man behind it was Elon Musk, who got all the attention by securing a $44 billion acquisition of a company with about 240 million daily active users.
But everything that happened after that, especially after Musk walked into Twitter HQ in San Francisco holding what looked like a ceramic bathroom sink with the words “…let it sink.”, It’s just a mess.
Musk has since fired and became the sole member of the company’s board, himself making Twitterati part of the chaos at Twitter headquarters, suggesting that users must pay $20 for the so-called halo blue tick. “The entire verification process is now being revised,” Musk tweeted on Sunday in response to a user seeking help with verification.
Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal said he and his kingdom holding company have a combined $1.89 billion in existing assets despite an ongoing global debate over whether users will accept their payment factor. That sparked another debate about where Twitter was headed. Twitter’s stake, making them the company’s largest shareholder after Musk.
Following last week’s layoffs, including CEO Parag Agrawal and other executives, and signs of a larger restructuring and layoffs, Twitter’s future is trending in tweets from the microblogging site. Is the bird really as free as Musk tweeted, or will the bird fly again?
