According to the police, Srikar, a Thelukunt native of Julapalli mandal, and three other students entered the well around 5 p.m. to remove rubbish.

Karim Nagar: On Sunday, a Grade 8 student Maram Srikar (15) drowned in a well at the campus of St Anthony’s High School, Thimmapur mandal LMD Colony, on the outskirts of Karimnagar town.
According to the police, Srikar, a Thelukunt native of Julapalli mandal, and three other students entered the well around 5 p.m. to remove rubbish. The students descended into the well on the instructions of the dormitory administrator, Naveen. While three other students climbed up after clearing the rubbish, Srikar was gone. The school notified LMD police, who rushed to the scene and dispatched swimmers to conduct a search operation. Srika’s body was later brought up from the well.
Other students said it was routine for Class X students to remove weeds and other debris from the well. Also on Sunday, four students were called to remove trash from the well, they said.
On the other hand, relatives and family members of the boy protested with the dead body inside the school building. They wanted to bring the dorm administrators to the scene. It is reported that Srika’s family immigrated to Hyderabad in search of work.
Police have reportedly taken hotel manager Naveen into custody with a case filed.
