Mahababad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said on Thursday that for India to progress, people need peace and harmony so that the well-being of all citizens is guaranteed. However, he cautioned that communal and caste hatred was being incited to divide the country’s people for political gain, which could turn India into a Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.
“We need a progressive and impartial central government for the development of the country and in turn the states. Telangana will show the country the way of development. I need your support in this regard,” he said at Mahababad Complex Complex asked the cheering crowd at a meeting organized at the inauguration.
Chandrashekhar Rao criticized the performance of the central government on par with Telangana, saying that due to the failure of the central government, Telangana lost more than Rs 3 trillion in GSDP compared to the current GSDP of Rs 115 trillion. He lamented that, despite having abundant resources, successive governments at the center had failed to ensure their optimal use.
“People should be wary of governments to make sure they are functioning effectively. Even after 20 years, disputes over Krishna water allocation among riparian states remain unresolved due to ineffective coalition governments. But Telangana moves on because it determined to complete these irrigation projects,” he added.
The Chief Minister also presented funds and other gifts to the people of the Mahababad region. He allocated Rs 10 lakh each for all 461 gram village councils in the district, Rs 50 crore each for Mahababad city and Rs 250 crore each for Thorrur, Dornakal and Maripeda municipalities.
