Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao officially launched Bharat Rashtra Samithi as a national party at the party headquarters in Telangana Bhavan on Friday. To mark the occasion, he signed the official party letter at the auspicious time of 1.20pm.
Shortly after arriving at the party state headquarters, the BRS chief garlanded the Telangana Thalli statue there. On the same day, he also performed a special liturgy. He was accompanied by JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, actor and social activist Prakash Raj, BRS working chairman KT Rama Rao, and many BRS leaders including cabinet ministers and other elected representatives.
He later hoisted the party’s new pink flag featuring a map of India and the name “Bharat Rashtra Samithi” in Telugu and English. Party cadres then joined celebrations outside Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad and across the state. In addition to handing out candy, they pop cookies and dance to the beat of drums.
Chandrashekhar Rao soon held a meeting with party leaders in Telangana Bhavan, with whom he is expected to share his BRS action plan. Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, the entire State Cabinet along with MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other elected representatives attended the ceremony. National Farmers Union leaders were also present.
