Warangal: A police officer who started helping those in need with the help of like-minded people during the difficult time of Covid-19 by forming a WhatsApp group is doing his service by forming a voluntary organization called ‘Mana Apadbandhavulu Foundation’ Activity.
To date, the organization has provided financial and other support to nearly 3,500 families in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at the expense of Rs 3 million. Jabbu Venkatesh is the son of J Chinna Mallaiah and Tirupatamma from a village in Nagarkurnool district. He joined the police force in 2018 as a constable with the 3rd Battalion TSSP in Ibrahimpatnam.
“In May 2020, when I was working at a checkpoint in Rajendranagar, a mason who had lost his job during the lockdown approached me and was touched by his plight. I called some friends and offered him family with rice and other necessities,” Venkatesh recalled the events that prompted him to help those in need.
“On May 2, 2020, we launched our foundation and so far, more than 3,500 families have received Rs 3 million in financial and other forms of help. We mainly distribute rice bags and groceries. , wedding anniversaries and other special occasions. Members send money every month,” he said.
Teachers, government employees, private employees and others are members of the foundation. Most recently, the foundation helped two children who lost their parents in a car accident in Nalgonda.
“We gave Rs 3 lakh to a cancer patient in Nagarkurnool district to save his life because his parents were poor. But we couldn’t save him,” said Venkatesh. One of the members of the foundation, Deputy Inspector of Taxation K Saidulu, said that every member of the foundation, from all walks of life, must be thanked for their support.
Deputy Inspector Mahesh from Rajanna Sircilla district also praised Jabbu Venkatesh and other members of the foundation for their help. “The team recently helped two people buy rice and other necessities from the Rudrangi mandal centre,” SI said.
