New Delhi: Injured India goalkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant will be transferred to New Delhi for further treatment, especially plastic surgery for the burns he suffered in the car accident he was involved in on Friday morning.
Rohan Jaitley, chairman of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), said his organization would fly Pant from Dehradun to New Delhi for plastic surgery if required and medically feasible.
“If medically feasible, we will airlift Rishabh Pant to Delhi for plastic surgery. We have been in touch with Max Hospital Dehradun,” DDCA chairman Rohan Jaitley told IANS on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a medical bulletin said Pant’s brain and spine MRI results were normal after the cricketer was involved in a serious car crash near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on Friday morning.
The 25-year-old also underwent plastic surgery to treat his facial injuries, lacerations and abrasions, while MRI scans for his ankle and knee have been postponed until Saturday due to pain and swelling.
Panter suffered two cuts to his forehead, torn ligaments in his right knee, injuries to his right wrist, ankle and toes, and abrasions to his back.
Panter was driving from Derry to Roorkee in the early hours of Friday morning when the accident happened. According to reports, his car was badly damaged in the accident, hitting a barrier on the road before catching fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.
Meanwhile, former India batsman and National Cricket Academy chief VVS Laxman posted pictures of the bus driver pulling Pant from the burning car.
“Thanks to Haryana Roadways driver Sushil Kumar who took #RishabhPant away from the burning car, wrapped him in a sheet and called an ambulance. We are so grateful for your selfless service, Sushil ji,” Laxman wrote in a tweet on Saturday Tao, calling him a true hero.
Meanwhile, Pant’s Indian teammates Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, KS Bharat and Deepak Hooda posted on social media hoping to speed up Pant’s recovery.
They were also joined by former cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Kevin Pietersen, Virender Sehwag, women’s cricketer Jhulan Goswami and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, wishing the Indian batsman a speedy recovery.
Movie stars Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher also visited Max Healthcare in Dehradun to inquire about his health.
