New Delhi: Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia claimed on Wednesday night that one of the protesters was beaten and injured by Delhi police at Jantar Mantar.
Speaking to reporters, he said female wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik had been mistreated by police.
“Look at them, they’re drunk,” Bajrang said, pointing to two police officers surrounded by other protesters.
Meanwhile, Vinesh was seen comforting Sakshi who was crying for help.
Vinesh also said her brother was injured after being beaten by police.
“They also pushed me and abused me,” she said.
Video of the brawl went viral on social media. Awaiting further details.
Earlier on Wednesday, IOA president PT Usha met protest wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and others who demanded the arrest of WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and assured them that support.
Usha held discussions with protesting wrestlers and left the scene of the protest without speaking to the media.
Bajrang Punia later told reporters that Usha had assured them that she would help them get justice.
“PT Usha met us and assured us of her support. She said she was an athlete first and then an administrator. She assured us that she would help us get justice,” Bajrang said.
