Muzaffar Ali belonged to the royal family of Kotvara. He started his advertising career with an early role in Air India before becoming a successful filmmaker in Bollywood. His credits include films such as Umrao Jaan and Gaman, as well as several documentaries and short films.
He launched his haute couture collection “Kotwara” and was involved in several initiatives to celebrate art, cultivate traditional Awad craftsmanship and promote Sufism. He received the Padma Shri in 2005 and the Rajiv Gandhi National Sabhawana Award in 2014.
