Hyderabad: Popular with multipurpose halls among the urban poor, the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is now proposing to build more such facilities in Hyderabad.
GHMC has proposed 25 multipurpose halls at a cost of Rs 957 crore, out of which 9 such facilities, developed at a cost of Rs 301 crore, are already operational. Since their introduction, function rooms have quickly become a cheaper option for the urban poor for weddings and other private events.
In a press release on Monday, GHMC said that besides the nine existing facilities, nine multi-purpose halls are under construction at a cost of Rs 318.9 crore and they will be completed soon.
Apart from this, another 7 such facilities have been proposed at a cost of Rs. 33.71 crore and will be present in Rahmath Nagar, Vengalraonagar, Suraram and Begumpet.
Most of these multi-purpose halls are two-story buildings, equipped with Kalyana Mandapam, dining area, modern kitchen, parking facilities, drinking water facilities, separate rooms for the bride and groom, toilets, composite walls, etc.
Almost all function halls have vitrified bricks, suspended ceilings, external composite wall paintings, arches and other components, which add a lot of beauty.
Function rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and daily charges for new facilities will be determined upon opening. “Compared to private banquet halls, the charges will be lower,” GHMC said.
