Hyderabad: Using technology, teachers in government and local group schools across the state will soon be able to track their students’ academic performance in addition to delivering digital content and recording their attendance on Tablet PCs. The Ministry of School Education has decided to provide a staggering 20,000 tablets to teachers in government and local schools. For this purpose, the department has entered into a contract with Telangana State Technology Services Limited, which has issued a call for tenders for this purpose.
Under the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi/Mana Basti-Mana Badi programme, public schools across the state are being equipped with digital classrooms and the supply of these tablets will further boost digital education in schools. Because the gadgets have built-in SIM, Wi-Fi, and Volte, teachers can access digital content over the Internet by scanning quick-response codes printed in State Department textbooks.

In addition to student attendance, tablets with built-in GPS will be used to register faculty and staff geographic attendance. School staff are required to mark their attendance times as geographic attendance times in the app by taking a selfie photo with the latitude and longitude of the school building and a time stamp. “As part of the Samagra Shiksha programme, it has been decided to provide 20,000 tablets to public primary schools in the state. Tenders for the same have been issued. Teachers will be given tablets before the start of the next school year,” an official said.
