Hyderabad: Employment portal Naukri said in its JobSpeak Index that hiring was flat in October compared with a year earlier. At 2,455 in October this year (2,172 last year), the index showed an upward trend, indicating continued hiring.
The index records recruitment activity based on job listings on the Naukri.com website. The goal is to measure hiring across industries, cities and experience levels. Consider a job posted by a client on Naukri.com.
The insurance industry continues to witness growth due to increased demand for professionals across the spectrum of experience. The industry is up 93% from last year. Other industries showing rising hiring trends are BFSI (40%), oil (34%), travel and hospitality (24%), real estate (20%) and automotive (19%). Hiring in the IT industry slowed by 18% in October compared to last year. Telecom and health also fell 19% and 13%, respectively.
Recruitment activity in Kolkata rose 15%, while Mumbai saw an 8% increase. Delhi was flat in terms of hiring. Recruitment activity in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune fell by 16%, 12% and 11% respectively, as the IT industry declined.
Demand for senior professionals with more than 13 years of experience increased by 6% over last year. Demand for graduates remained flat, while demand for mid-level professionals (ages 4-12) fell by 4%.
“Given the festive period, a temporary slowdown in hiring is expected. However, the index leads by 13%, which is reassuring. Most key industries maintained hiring expansion in October, and that growth is likely to change as the end of the year approaches. stronger,” said Pawan Goyal, Chief Commercial Officer of Naukri.com.
