Hyderabad: A deputy inspector rescued an abandoned newborn baby girl in an apartment in Kushaiguda on Sunday morning, but her efforts were in vain as the baby died of her injuries late at night.
Residents found the newborn on the ground floor of an apartment building in Kamala Nagar Colony. They searched everywhere for her parents but couldn’t find them. They suspected that outsiders had abandoned the child, so they called the police.
Kushaiguda SI M Sai Kumar rushed to the scene, wrapped the baby in a towel and called 108 ambulance.
After an initial examination, paramedics took the bleeding girl to a nearby private hospital and then to Niloufer Hospital. “After transferring the baby to Niloufer Hospital, we tried to trace those who kept her in the hospital,” Sai Kumar said.
However, the baby was pronounced dead in the evening. Based on her injuries, doctors suspected she had been thrown from a height.
Although the police registered the case under Section 318 of the IPC, more details are still awaited. Police reviewed CCTV footage but were unable to yield any leads and are now relying on human intelligence to solve the case.
