Hyderabad: Road infrastructure doesn’t have to be austere, devoid of any pleasing and soothing ornamentation. A little aesthetic, artistically designed patterns, a little color and all that creative stuff can make the street look more attractive and, for the motorist, add a certain level of enjoyment to the driving experience.
This is what has recently changed on the main roads of Hyderabad.
The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) sector is not limited to the development of infrastructure which is the backbone of a fast growing city like Hyderabad but also improving the aesthetics of the city.
And more artworks dot the city. Recently developed landscaping includes metal work depicting a group of people perched leisurely on the rocks at the Durgam Cheruvu Cable Stay bridge. Those traveling along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) will now be greeted by several creatively designed birds, in addition to two busts eagerly watching.
MA&UD also decorated the city overpass to enhance the appearance of the facility and make it more attractive. Recent beautification works include a sculpture that looks like a beehive under the Biodiversity Junction flyover, which is illuminated in gold. In addition to the “Calm in Chaos” sculpture at Nanakramguda Junction, there is a person sitting in a relaxed manner and a sculpture depicting a stock exchange bull market.
Minister KT Rama Rao has been emphasizing the incorporation of aesthetics into the development of infrastructure, MA&UD officials said. In fact, MA&UD Special Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar tweeted: “Minister @KTRRTS has been encouraging us to commit to aesthetics (often missed/neglected in government work) when undertaking urban infrastructure works. Over the next few weeks Here, you will be pleasantly surprised!!”
Meanwhile, the city flyover is being painted and water waterfalls are being installed beneath it, adorned with colorful lighting, in addition to vertical gardens lining the flyover columns.
