Pune: Sri Lanka beat India by 16 points in the second T20I to tie the three-match series 1-1, here on Thursday, batting, captain Dasun Shanaka (56 not out) and Kusal Mendis (53) batting Scored 50 and powered Sri Lanka to 206 for 6.
Chasing 200-plus goals, the hosts’ top ranking crumbled under pressure before Axar Patel (65) and Suryakumar Yadav (51) ignited Indian hopes with a 91-run partnership.
Once the partnership falls apart, however, the hosts cannot cross the line. Earlier, openers Mendis (53) and Pathum Nisankar (33) shared an 80-run stand to give Sri Lanka a solid start.
The visitors then ran out of steam as the Indian bowlers, led by the impressive pace Umran Malik (3/48), picked up a flurry of wickets.
However, Shanaka (56 not out) and Charith Asalanka (37) managed to get their team over 200.
