New Delhi: India recorded 408 new coronavirus infections in a single day, bringing the total to 4,467,0483, while active cases fell further to 5,881, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.
Updated figures as of 8am showed the death toll had climbed to 5,30,601 in the past 24 hours with five fatalities, four of which were checked by Kerala and one reported from Rajasthan.
Active cases account for 0.01 percent of the total number of infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.80 percent, according to the Ministry of Health website.
Active COVID-19 cases fell by 165 over a 24-hour period.
The number of recoveries increased to 4,413,4001, and the fatality rate was 1.19%.
According to the ministry’s website, the country has so far administered 2,198.8 million doses of the Covid vaccine in the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
India’s COVID-19 count crossed the 2 million mark on 7 August 2020, 3 million on 23 August, 4 million on 5 September and 5 million on 16 September.
It passed 6 million on September 28, 7 million on October 11, 8 million on October 29, 9 million on November 20, and passed the 1 million mark on December 19.
India passed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4, 30 million on June 23 last year and 40 million on January 25 this year.
